IN FASHION BUT OUT OF BUSINESS
AN INTRODUCTION TO WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE LAW TO SURVIVE IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY
The Fashion World is a large industry (in volume, dollars and reach) which exists at the nexus of a number of legal specialties including Intellectual Property (Trademarks, Copyrights, Patents), Specialized Contracts, International Issues and Business Issues particular to the industry. It is also known as an industry where the theft of good will and creative works is not only a problem, but some might say - the norm. Imitation may be considered flattery but in the Fashion Industry it adds up to the loss of real dollars. Too many entrepreneurs invest years and life savings to develop a profitable niche only to see it stolen because of the lack of attention to protecting their work product and developing a solid business plan in anticipation of the inevitable. This program will provide an introduction to the law and legal mechanisms available to protect you and your business.
